Honour Killings

Here are 2 links to articles about honour killings and how common they actually are (and not just by Muslims).

I admit that I've had problems with Muslim culture and how abusive these men tend to be. I got influenced by the media reporting every single Muslim honour killing and the few domestic murders that they cover committed by Canadian men. I also got influenced by the multiple abusive marriages I know of in real life of women with Muslim men and the very few (can't even think of one) that I know of in my real life of a woman with a Canadian man. I think that it's partly because I have a great family and friends and attract good people and also because I was more open about my marriage problems with Muslim women which might've encouraged them to open up more... Also, cultural differences between these converts and their husbands makes the marriage harder to begin with than two of the same culture. Who knows though, really? I'm still under the impression that there's a higher percentage of abusive husbands from these Eastern countries than Canada, but I'm starting to understand that it's not a religion problem or even a cultural problem so much as it is a MAN PROBLEM.

I'm interested in anything anyone has to add about domestic abuse or murder. Any personal experiences or observations or additional statistics...

i think an angry/crazy man will find any excuse to hurt someone. whether it is religion or jealousy or anything. i think that it is easy for a man to want to blame is anger on Islam/Muslim culture because it is such a huge part of his life and maybe it makes him feel less guilty in a way, like he had some excuse when in actuality there is no excuse for this behavior...

domestic violence is a huge problem in the US and elsewhere but i think it makes better news when the domestic violence is done by immigrants, especially Muslims now-a-days.

also i once read an article about "honor killings" in japan. We know that at one point it was acceptable in japan to end your own life for the sake of honor. In a sort of modern take on this, there were a group of Buddhists in Japan who believed that by killing people who were doing bad was a merciful act. that they were actually helping them by ending their lives so that they would be reincarnated before they made their level lower. Now... can you say that Buddhists teachings encourage violence on people?? absolutely not! But this is where people took it.

this is the group i was talking about, they began as a sort of buddhist/hindu mediditation/yoga group and then some leaders started borrowing from other traditions and stuff. it gets very complicated.

In france, where I live, a woman is killed every other day by her spouse/partner, and the majority of them are not muslims!
When a non muslim does something, we blame it on the person, but when a muslim does the same, we blame Islam. This is something that western media does a lot nowadays to brainwash people against Islam.
Believe me domestic violence has nothing to do with Islam or "Muslim culture".Whatever violence or opression you find in so called "muslim countries", this doesn't come from Islam, but from pre Islamic time of ignorance.

Thanks for your comments. I'm seeing clearly on the issue now I think. It was the media mixed with my bad experiences with some Muslims and good experiences with non-Muslims that did it.
