Kohl, with a picture

This is the look that some kohl and a light bit of mascara to the upper eyelashes gives. As I wrote before, I'm really loving the look! Very subtle, but there. The type that doesn't make a person notice there's makeup on, but that does make a difference from a bare face.

Who wears kohl? What is your kohl routine? Where do you buy it from?

Also: Who dislikes kohl?

Shoot I love makeup both applying it,wearing it and showing it , why would I want to hide it after all the work it takes?Plus it's taken me years to master it.

Your eyes look beautiful! I love kohl. Mine is in the form of eyeliner (as opposed to the powder kind) that I wear very similar to this. My routine... well it's kohl and mascara and that's it! For some reason kohl evens out my face so I don't need any foundation or anything so I love it even more for that. Mine is from Saudi Arabia ^_^

Though one thing I dislike that's kohl related is when women wear too much of it - it gets to a point where it's caked on and just looks hooooorrible!

I would like to try kohl, but am concerned that it might contain lead or other unsafe chemicals/minerals. How did you check the safety of yours and where did you get it from?

Barbie: I like this look because it's easy to achieve, but it is hidden partly by my glasses!

Nurul: Thanks!

Ellen: How can kohl even out a face? Very weird!

Becky: I got it from Arabian Threads. The link is 2 posts down. She writes that she cannot guarantee anything, but the vendors guarantee it has no lead, and the way it feels around her eyes and looks is the same as kohl she has used b efore that she knew had no lead and things... I guess it's hard to know 100%...

Nice makeup! Ellen wouldn't like me, I wear lots of kohl and eyeshadow and do a smokey eye. It's really popular in my own country so I do often wear French brands etc but did pick up some Rani, Hashmi and others in the Middle East.

I'm actually not a huge fan of kohl. Not because of how it looks, which it looks fantastic, but because of the incidentals. I feel like A) it smudges way too easily (even when you buy the kohl from Clinique or D&G) and B) it makes my eyes hurt! It may be how I apply my liner but my eyes become irriated and start to bother me. I can't wear my contacts with the kohl, and even if I wear glasses with it there is an 80% chance that I will either rub it off as the day goes on or just wipe it off all together.

Jaz: I guess it's all about culture too! Here a dark smokey look is only considered culturally acceptable for nightitme. People who wear a dark smokey look in the middle of the day can get judged as slutty-looking. Of course, I know people who love makeup and wear a lot of it during the day, but it's more about colours. It's definitely a very make-uppy look they do!

Mrs. S: Mine is not annoying at all and not smudgey! The kohl powder does go from the waterline to the eyelash line as the day progresses, making it become a thinner line, but it doesn't smudge to anywhere else! Mine is from Saudi...

love the kohl!

about smudging. try putting under eye concealer on before applying. it stops smudging a lot..for me anyway. ....

salam alaykum! i love kohl too i have the rani tube bought from saifmodesty and one that kind of looks like a lipstick, lol, i bought it from pearl daisy. for the smudging i agree with anya i use eye concealer and also daba small line of black eyeshadow right under the water line. usually i just use kohl on my waterline because if i do my whole eye i look like a Twilight character wannabe or some kind of undead anyways

Jaz, lol smokey eyes are niiice :P But just imagine for a second over the top khaleeji kohl ;)

Candice I think that it evens out my face because it draws attention to my eyes and defines them. Makes my skin stand out less and means I don't bother wearing foundation :D
