If you can understand it, it's not God.

I agree!

Do you agree with this? It's thought-provoking. :)

Interesting! I'm slowly starting to accept that there are things about God I will never understand, but I think the Western education system and the West in general discourages thoughts like this...if you can't understand it rationally, then it's not important. From a religious point of view, I think it is very important.

Susanne: Yes, I do. I think there are certain things we are able to understand, (like just enough to have a relationship with God and believe in him) but we will never *really* understand. We understand things in our human ways.

CLA: Yes, we are so focused on fact... There are so many atheists here because of how there is no real proof for God... But it's so OK to not know! If anything, it's part of the beauty.

Candice, I agree to some extent as well. Like you said it so well in your reply to me. I think there are some things God allows us to understand, while often there are many things we have to accept by faith.

This is why I can accept the Trinity. I don't have to understand in order to accept everything. I didn't know if you agreed since many Muslims I know seem to think God gave us minds and if something doesn't make sense to our logic, we must reject it. This thought you shared seems opposite of what they have told me, that's why I wondered if you agreed. :)

Susanne: Well, I think our logic was given to us to make sense, so everything we are made to understand will make sense. So it's not that God doesn't make sense to us, it's that he is so far beyond our capacities that we are only able to understand his essence.
